Large Ocean Jasper Designer Cut Cabochon

This large unique Ocean Jasper cabochon has beautiful orbs of gold and khaki green with multiple rings around the orbs. I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high sheen both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.

A fairly new entry to the market introduced in 2000, Ocean Jasper has quickly become a highly prized material. It is truly a unique stone, with its distinct spherical inclusions, originating as spheres of silica rich magma, in a translucent to opaque base. The name of "Ocean Jasper" is truly dually descriptive because it was found along the northwest seacoast of Madagascar (only collected at low tide) and they felt that it was "suggestive of the bubbling surf of the sea."
