I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high mirror polish both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Imperial Jasper is one of the most prized Jaspers and is one of the few Jaspers with the rare overlapping “egg” pattern (which gives the effect of banding in this cabochon).

Imperial Jasper forms in nodules, usually with a chalky white covering that must be removed to reveal the jasper. Although there are many varieties, it is one of the highly prized jaspers on the market today. Colors range from reds and greens, to pinks, greys, tans and other earthy tones. Some of the finer Imperial Jasper is partly translucent and orb or "egg" patterns are highly desired in this material. One of the newer arrivals to the market are small nodules from Guadalajara, Mexico.
