This beautiful cabochon displays some amazing "Birdseye" formations for which this material is known. From the Indonesian Island of Sumatra, this unique material is definitely Eye-Catching and captures an amazing piece of natural history. As the trunks of these trees were never found, it is thought that only the roots were preserved in this agatized form. I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polished both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.
Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.
