England Cotham Marble Stomatolite is actually a Rhaetian Stromatolitic Limestone rather that a true Marble. It was formed during the uppermost Triassic in south west England in the Prehistoric Mud Flats. Colonies of algae and worm-like organisms either bound the mud together (forming the layers) or burrowed into the high layer (forming the "trees"). It's known for it's layers and plumes creating landscape images. It is unique to this area and was named after Cotham Hou8se near Bristol, where it was first discovered in 1754.
