As with any natural treasure, no two beach stones are identical, and, actually, that's the hardest part -- finding pairs that match well enough to be put together as a pair of earrings.

I've set faceted Yellow Sapphires (3mm) into these beach stones, contrasting the natural shape and appearance of the beach stones with the sparkling beauty of gemstones. For me, making these earrings takes me back to my childhood when I would gather stones and head for the back porch with a hammer searching for geodes with crystaline quartz cavities hidden within the "ordinary" pebbles and stones -- these earrings are my way of re-creating that same feeling of finding beauty within the ordinary.

No, they aren't heavy. They're actually lighter than most earrings of the same size.

The earrings pictured here are the ones that you will receive. No two pairs are ever the same, as they are only shaped by the motion of the currents and waves (although I do drill into the stones to secure the earwires and to set the Sapphires -- the settings for the Sapphires go through to the backs of each of the beach stones so that light can enter from behind the earrings).

All of the beachstones I use are personally gathered by me along the shores of Lake Michigan, north of Chicago.
