Rare Ray Mine Gem Silica with Sagenite Designer Cut Cabochon; Designer Cabochons

This astonishing beautifully cut cabochon has simply eye-popping blue Gem Silica with sprays of feathery Sagenite, along with dots (spheres) of Silicated Chrysocolla scattered within the Sagenite patterns. This extremely rare material is Gem Silica (sometimes referred to as Chrysocolla Chalcedony) with Sagenite, one of the rarest types of Chrysocolla. Gem Silica is very rare in its own right (being the most valuable variety of Chalcedony), but Sagenite included Gem Silica is much more rare. The finest quality Gem Silica in the world is found at the Ray Mine and the Inspiration Mine in Arizona, with this material coming from the Ray Mine. If you're looking for rare, unique and beautiful, this cabochon sums it up wonderfully. It's definitely one of the best rough materials I've been honored to work with, and the blue of this stone is off the charts! This is definitely difficult to part with. It will make an astoundingly gorgeous one-of-kind piece of extreme high end jewelry or an amazing example of this rare treasure for a collector.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polish both front and back, a slightly angled girdle, and slightly beveled bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.
