Azurite (148.1g) from the Milpillas Mine, Cuitata, Municipio de Cananea, Sonora, Mexico
This is an astoundingly gemmy specimen of world class Azurite from the famed Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico. This specimen displays that vivid electric blue and gorgeous terminations that show off beautifully against the white matrix material.
Azurite from the Milpillas Mine is already considered one of the most important discoveries of high quality mineral specimens ever found. Now that mining of the surface oxide zone which contains the azurite has ceased (the mine is now converting to process the solid chalcocite orebody beneath), these great azurites will never be mined from this locale again. Like other finds that have come and gone in the past, NOW is the time to buy, as the value of these specimens will only increase.
Milpillas azurites have an inner glow, a magical electrifying blue color that spontaneously tells the viewer that you are looking upon something truly extraordinary. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have witnessed the world’s finest azurite specimens as they were freshly removed from the earth. Milpillas will be spoken of by all future generations of collectors as the mine that produced the world’s most vivid and spectacular azurites.
