Malachite Pseudomorph After Azurite from the Milpillas Mine, Cuitata, Municipio de Cananea, Sonora, Mexico
This is an astoundingly specimen of world class Malachite Pseudomorph After Azurite from the famed Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico. This substantial specimen displays the green Malachite with the shape of the myriad large terminated Azurite crystals it has replaced and does show some wonderful chatoyance. An outstanding piece from this never to be mined again locale, at lease not for the Azurite and/or Malachite pseudomorph.
Azurite from the Milpillas Mine is already considered one of the most important discoveries of high quality mineral specimens ever found. Now that mining of the surface oxide zone which contains the azurite has ceased (the mine is now converting to process the solid chalcocite orebody beneath), these great azurites will never be mined from this locale again. Like other finds that have come and gone in the past, NOW is the time to buy, as the value of these specimens will only increase.
