Extremely Rare Blue Opal Petrified Wood. This astounding gemmy cabochon shows both the blue-green opalized silica and patterns of the wood in which it formed. This beautiful material is from an ancient petrified forest on the steep slopes of Mt.Tjikolak in West Java, Indonesia. The blue-green color comes from copper and manganese. This material is getting harder to find in gem-quality because there’s only one source. Here’s your chance at a rare and beautiful gemstone that would make a gorgeous piece of high-end jewelry!
Rare Blue Opal Petrified Wood Designer Cut Cabochon
49.1 x 18.5 x 6.5mm
I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polish both front and back with slightly beveled bottom edges for easy setting and to protect the integrity of the stone.
Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.
