Woodward Ranch Plume Agate Designer Cut Cabochon; Designer Cabochons

I cut this cab from a parcel of highly coveted Woodward Ranch Plume Agate that I was lucky enough to come across. This cab shows off the prized red and black feathery plumes in a translucent agate base. A one-of-a-kind stone which should make an nice piece of jewelry.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high mirror polish both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.

Woodward Ranch is a classic plume agate from Texas, popular in the 50's but is becoming scarce, and is a favorite of collectors. It's well defined plumes of red and black on a clear field make superb finished cabs which are highly prized by artisans and craftsmen.
