Gaudefroyite from N'Chwaning II Mine, Duruman, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape, South Africa

A fine thumbnail of Gaudefroyite from the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa. This cluster consists of very small sharp jet-black crystals displaying good luster and a lot of sparkle because of the small size and quantity of crystals. Gaudefroyite is an uncommon calcium-manganese borate-carbonate hydroxide and this locality has produced the best of species, and this is a fun little thumbnail example.

Unfortunately while the perky box this piece was inside of was packed well, there was no protective packing within the perky box so it came detached from the mineral tack during shipping and a bunch of pieces broke off. No one will notice but me.
