Kobyashevite on Calcite with Selenite Spines from Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico

This unique and aesthetic specimen from the Ojuela Mine in Durango, Mexico and shows off a beautiful formation of multiple towering Calcite crystals that are covered with gorgeous blue/green Kobyashevite and delicate glittering Selenite needles. Such a unique and rare piece!

NOTE: This specimen is a Post-Mined item, which means that the miners are taking the natural Calcite crystal pieces and spraying a copper sulphate solution on them that causes the Kobyashevite to form over the Calcite, along with the Selenite needles. While it is this solution that causes the transformation to occur, this is true Kobyashevite and Selenite that forms on the Calcite. It still remains to be sought after by collectors due to its rarity and aesthetic properties.
