Chocolate Calcite Crystal Cluster from Leiping Mine, Chenzhou, Hunan Province, China

"Chocolate calcite" is the common trade name for this form of calcite, as the color resembles that of chocolate. This stunning High-Quality Chocolate Calcite Crystal Cluster displays beautifully with an exterior layer of clear patterned Calcite with natural modified corner edges over a deep reddish brown Calcite interior, the color coming from the presence of iron oxide impurities. The Chocolate Calcite crystals in this specimen sit atop a base of standard white calcite which fluoresces pink under UV lighting, while the Chocolate Calcite does not have fluorescence. This specimen has gorgeous luster and originated from the Leiping Mine in Hunan Province, China. A great aesthetic display piece.
