Fluorite from Riemvasmaak, Kakamas District, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

This stellar Fluorite comes from Riemvasmaak in South Africa and has fantastic bright green coloring of multiple gemmy fluorite Octahedral crystals over a previous generation of purple fluorite. This specimen has great luster and fantastic structure. It also fluoresces Blue under UV lighting. Riemvasmaak Fluorite is particularly prized for the gorgeous vivid green colored crystals.

Reimvasmaak fluorite is mined in the 1.3 billion year old Namaqua-Natal Metamorphic Province. There are three zones in the province, however, fluorite is only found in the Kakamas zone, which surrounds the Orange River in northwest Northern Cape Province. Fluorite is found in some of the abundant small pegmatites and countless quartz veins in this area.
