African Banded Red Agate Designer Cut Cabochon, Designer Cabochons

This large gorgeous rare banded red agate cabochon from Africa and has beautiful deep red and orange banding along with a lighter "bloom" in the center from which the bands expand. This one-of-a-kind gemmy treasure will make an incredible high end piece of jewelry or would be great as a collector stone. This is an unusually large cabochon for this material. The finish and color on this cabochon are truly outstanding, and it is my favorite of this material I've ever cut! Of course, I may be just a little bit biased...

I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high polish both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.

Note that this rough was only identified to me as "Red African Agate" when I purchased it, but could probably also be referred to as banded Carnelian. This material has an incredible saturated color which is difficult to find in Carnelian or Red Agate. This is also similar to Swali Rose Agate, which is generally lighter and has more of a pink hue, whereas this African Red Agate has much more of the reddish orange.
