This elegant eye-catching cabochon of contrasting flame-like billowing plumes in brilliant yellow and oranges with black banding is a gorgeous example of the perfectly named Bumble Bee Jasper from Indonesia, collected near the hot steaming calderas of an active volcano, giving an evocative image to the yellow-orange plumes in this cabochon. Note that this material usually has natural small pits in it and I have left these in this cabochon to give it a more organic feel rather than filling them in with an epoxy, which is an option that some will use (I usually prefer to keep stones natural when possible). Dangerous to collect and also to cut, this stone actually must be cut with protective gloves and face mask as it contains arsenic. Safe to wear and touch in this highly polished state, it creates an appealing contrast in its design, and will definitely make a remarkable one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!
