Beautiful ribbons of deep forest greens and whites blend into subtle patterns and shades of pinkish orange in this cabochon I've created from newly discovered Caldera Gary Green Jasper. Note that there are small "pits", tiny separations between the bands (which would be the growth rings of the petrified wood), which I've chosen not to fill in as I feel it gives the stone true character and that tie in to it's origin as a living tree and part of a forest. A unique cabochon from this amazing new sought after Gary Green material, this would make a great one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!
Caldera Gary Green Jasper Rough (a/k/a Larsonite) Designer Cut Cabochon
49.2 x 17.6 x 7.3mm
44.95 cts.
I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polished both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.
Caldera Gary Green Jasper is a newer find of Larsonite, or Petrified Bogwood, most commonly call simply “Gary Green”. As with the famous Gary Green which has been around for a while, the Caldera Gary Green Jasper is from McDermitt, Oregon, but seems to have a greater mix of color other than green. It also has gorgeous patterns and is definitely unmistakably a member of the Gary Green family.
