Aztec Lace Agate, Fire Opal and White Sapphires Pendant in Sterling Silver

The pendant is hand-fabricated by me - One of a Kind.
Pendant is approximately 2" in height.

The top stone in this pendant is a beautiful rich Mexican Fire Opal with great play of color which I cut myself, the three middle stones are faceted White Sapphires and the bottom stone is a beautiful lavender banded Aztec Lace Agate which I cut. I fabricated the body of this pendant in Sterling Silver.

The design of this piece takes me back to my adolescence when I was interested in architecture and I see this as columns holding the gems in place.

Information on Fire Opal - Fire Opal (sometimes called Cherry Opal because of it's rich cherry red color) often shows no play of color but radiates a rich red to reddish-orange color. Found primarily in Mexico born of volcanic activity, Fire Opal, as will all opal, is composed of spheres of silica surrounded by water and is therefore sensitive to extremes of heat and cold. It is helpful to keep stored in a cool (but not freezing) place, wrapped in a soft cloth (moistening the cloth can also help the preservation). It is found both faceted and, less commonly, cut into cabochons. The Fire Opal in this piece has great play of color, with strong reddish, green and orange flashes.
