Orpheus Agate Designer Cut Cabochon

The bold patterns and rich colors of this unique Orpheus Agate Cabochon are a great example of Nature's art. Rich ribbons of Gold wind through a bubbling deep Green background with ribbons and a pocket clear quartz with tiny Golden Plumes all with bits of rare Red coloring. Note that the "lines" in the dark Green are part of the structure and a few long-healed stress fractures, which are common in this Orpheus agate (especially in the portions of Green Celadonite). This striking cabochon is ready to be set in your next creation or simply become a treasured part of your collection.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high sheen both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

This rare agate comes from Kardzhali - Bulgaria. In 2004 the Agate exhibition in Munich found that Orpheus agate is unique in the world. Named after the ancient legendary Greek musical hero who frolicked in the area where the deposit is located. This unusual and rare stone from Bulgaria can be comprised of many layers of beautiful green Seladonit ( Celadonite) and golden yellow/brown jasper with some pockets of clear agate, with, on rare occasions, beautiful plumes within the clear agate.
