I crafted this completely unique cabochon from rare Wyoming Petrified Flame Sponge which I only recently came across and couldn’t resist. The bold attention grabbing zig zag patterns and striking colors in this one-of-a-kind cabochon of this rarely seen stone creates a lasting impression that’s difficult to forget and definitely a conversation starter! Something truly out of the ordinary to give you inspiration for a gorgeous head-turning piece of jewelry or just to have to admire as part of a collection. I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polished both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Wyoming Petrified Flame Sponges are a unique treasure left over from the ancient oceans that once covered Wyoming. These great agates could be compared to South Dakotas Fairburn Agate as each state has their most desired and hard to find agates. These could be considered one of Wyoming's most colorful and cherished type of agates in that comparison. Thus, it’s also been referred to as Wyoming Prairie Agate.
