This large gorgeous well-domed Pink Thulite Cabochon from material found only in Norway has a great deep rich pink color with spots of white. Note that the vague white line running across the stone is not fracture, but simply a vein of the white base. I've taken it this far, now it's time for your own inspiration to take over and create your next beautiful piece of jewelry or simply to show it off in your collection.
Pink Thulite Designer Cut Cabochon
47.5 x 22.6 x 7.5mm
75.55 cts.
I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polished both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting. Note that, due to the graininess of this material, it takes a more of a high reflective satin polish, rather than a mirror polish.
A variety of Zoisite found in Norway, Thulite derives its deep pink color from manganese and is named after the mythical region of Thule. In classical and medieval literature, ultima Thule (Latin "farthermost Thule") acquired a metaphorical meaning of any distant place located beyond the "borders of the known world".
