Green Kingman Mohave Turquoise Designer Cut Cabochon

I cut this gorgeous Green Mohave Turquoise cabochon into a nicely domed shape to show off the abstract spiderweb pattern and richness of the greens and golds in the stones. Always a eye-grabber, this material is a joy to work with and would be a real show stopper in a piece of jewelry.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polished both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.

Although I usually don't use material which is not 100% natural, I couldn't resist this. Kingman Mohave Turquoise is made from natural Kingman Turquoise which is combined with an intense color polymer enhancer, and then a bronze powder is added in a highly secretive process that creates the look of delicate golden veins. In and of itself, the stones are works of art. I've been lucky enough to obtain a small amount of this material and it is such a joy to cut into cabochons!
