Here is a great cabochon of the new find Blue Tide Seam Agate coming out of Garut, West Java, Indonesia, and featured in an article in the December 2019 issue of Rock & Gem magazine. In person, I would characterize the color more as a teal than blue, but it is eye-catching and truly a marvelous new stone. I've cut this cabochon with the plumes splashing above and below a central canvas of creamy white to set them off and given it a medium high dome, girdled sides and a flat beveled back. This cabochon is sure to make your next jewelry piece something truly special and one-of-a-kind.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been highly polished both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.
Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.

I absolutely love this stone. I don’t even have the heart to downgrade it because I discovered a teeny, teeny slit near the tip that Might crumble when wire-wrapping. I probably would have kept it if I did bezels. Snif. Service on this was exactly as it should be!
