Maligano Jasper Designer Cut Cabochon, Designer Cabochons

This colorful Maligano Jasper cabochon has gorgeous colors and patterns with Yellow, Oranges, White with Black and Grey veining and plumes. Maligano Jasper is a brecciated jasper from Indonesia which has recently been seeing a rise in popularity as it becomes more available, often showing off the brecciated pattern with black and grey dendritic patterns. This sizable stone would make a beautiful piece of jewelry or addition to a collection.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high sheen both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.

Maligano Jasper shows the effects of the upheaval from the tectonic movement of the earth. The yellow and orange jasper was broken apart leaving cracks to be filled in with agate and room for other minerals to leech into the stone, giving it a shattered look. This type is stone is also referred to as "brecciated".
