Lemon Turquoise (Tiggerite and Hematite) Designer Cut Cabochon, Designer Cabochons

Celebrating Etsy's "Color of the Year" - Chartreuse! And now for something completely different... Here's a bold cabochon of Lemon Turquoise (a/k/a Yellow African Turquoise) which has a standout color with interesting patterning and some translucency. This is not "actually" turquoise, but a combination of Tiggerite and Hematite (this is what I was informed by the person from whom I purchased the rough material and I've been unable to find more information on it than that). If you are looking for a unique and one-of-a-kind gemstone, this would fit the bill. (Note that this stone is a 4-6 on the Mohs hardness scale so would not be recommended for a ring.) This stone is entirely natural with no treatment whatsoever and does has some translucence. It will truly make a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!

I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a mirror polish both front and back with slightly beveled bottom edges for easy setting.

Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.
