I cut this large cabochon of very rare Feather Pyrite from material coming from the rugged East Harz Mountains in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Germany. Feathery vein patterns of pyrite within a quartz base create an image of tall golden grasses or a field of corn stalks being blown by the wind with the pyrite sparkling wildly throughout in this stunning cabochon. This material is truly a remarkable rarity that will definitely draw attention! If you’re looking for something unusual, one-of-a-kind and special, this would definitely fit the bill.
Feather Pyrite Designer Cut Cabochon
48.7 x 20.8 x 5.6mm
58.55 cts.
Each of my stones is handcut by me and highly polished on both sides with slightly beveled edges on the bottom for easy setting.
Note that all my photos were taken using full spectrum lighting, which does fairly well in replicating natural sunlight. However, almost all cut stones will look best and brightest in direct sunlight.
Feather Pyrite comes from the rugged East Harz Mountains in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Germany, which is the only place in the world where Feather Pyrite is found. Feather Pyrite is Pyrite pseudomorphous after Pyrrhotite (var. Feder Pyrit), which displays as yellow-metallic pyrite pseudomorphous after veins of pyrrhotite in quartz.
