This material is difficult to find in large cabochons because of the natural fractures so common in this brecciated stone. This unique stone, with a design created in tectonic upheaval of what is now Glenn County, California, truly has a story to tell.

I cut this cab by hand and it's been polished to a high sheen both front and back with slightly rounded bottom edges for easy setting.
Stoney Creek Jasper shows the effects of the upheaval from the tectonic movement of the earth. The red and orange jasper was broken apart leaving cracks to be filled in with chalcedony, quartz of greater purity, or even agate and room for other minerals to leech into the stone, giving it a shattered look. This type is stone is also referred to as "brecciated".
